Women now are at equal risk as men for Cardiovascular disease, and CVD is the number one killer of women. African American women typically develop heart disease at a younger age than white women. Their overall rates of death from heart disease are 69% higher than white women. According to the New York State Physical Activity Coalition, physical inactivity costs New York State $3 Billion a Year. Sixty percent of NY's adults do not meet the standards for even moderate physical activity.
